We’re the only company approved to install in Liverpool’s conservation areas – no easy feat – after many samples going to multiple conservation officers, it was finally accepted!

Awarded platinum – the highest certification awarded by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB): the bâtiment MERCIER of POST Luxembourg. The new service and administration building, the place of work for up to 900 people, is located in the middle of the City of Luxembourg, not far from the train station. The general contractor, Luxembourg-based office ROMAIN SCHMIZ, architectes & urbanistes, undertook the project from the planning phase in 2013, through the construction and all the way to DGNB certification in 2017.

Mr Geith, this year, SWISSPACER is celebrating its 20th year since it was founded. What were the most important milestones for you over the past two decades?
SWISSPACER’s origins lie in the biggest insulating glass producer in Europe, Saint Gobain. In the late 90s, no more quantum leaps in technology were expected in the area of glass coatings and filling the area between the panes with gas. So new ideas were needed to make insulating glass and consequently windows more energy-efficient – the focus shifted increasingly to the sealant and the spacer bar.

Designed by architects Foster + Partners, Principal Tower will contain 301 residential apartments when completed in early 2019. At 162 metres tall and equalling 35,400m², it will be one of the tallest residential buildings in London. Principal Tower complies with the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, and SWISSPACER ULTIMATE was used in the highly energy efficient façade.

The company has experienced strong growth in the last year through a mix of new direct business and distributor support. The opening of SWISSPACER’s new headquarters in Milton Keynes was a significant milestone and is pivotal to developing direct sales. Customers can now collect products directly from the centre and benefit from its new Laser Marking Service - a permanent and discreet way of coding spacer bars. The modern and spacious building is also used for events, training, and customer meetings.
