The Gliwice factory opened in 2011. Over the past five years sales have grown significantly and the factory has more than doubled capacity to cope with demand. SWISSPACER has two further manufacturing plants in Germany and Switzerland, all serving markets across Europe and worldwide.

In his video, MD Andreas Geith outlines how SWISSPACER was formed in 1998 to address the problem of heat loss through windows. Saint-Gobain had developed heat retaining glass but recognised that to improve the thermal performance of a window it needed an energy efficient insulating spacer bar. Spacers made of metal are a major source of heat loss, the weak link in an energy efficient window. So SWISSPACER developed a new metal-free compound which gives the best warm–edge performance on the market and makes a real difference to energy bills.

Forecasts presented by Martin Langen MD of B+L Market Data (Window Innovations Europe 2020) at the SWISSPACER European Symposium 2015 in Potsdam show strong growth for windows with the Passivhaus standard in the UK. The forecasts, based on research with window manufacturers across Europe, including 50 UK manufacturers, says windows with U-values of 0.8 W/m2K or below are expected to have expanded to 10% of the market in the UK, 25% in Germany, 30% in Austria, and up to 35% in Switzerland by 2020.
